Elite ATP and WTA Tour tennis returns to the circuit after an unmissable set of competitions at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, which saw world number two Novak Djokovic finally
complete the Golden Slam by winning his first gold medal. The Serbian is also the defending champion of the latest ATP and WTA 1000 event of the year – the Cincinnati Open.
Taking place for the 123rd time since its maiden tournament back in 1899, the 2024 Cincinnati Open is the sixth ATP Masters 1000 tournament of the season and seventh WTA 1000 event after last week's Canadian Open in Montreal. It's also the 96th edition of the Cincinnati Open to host a women's competition, with Coco Gauff winning in 2023.
The Cincinnati Open is the last of the three US-based ATP Masters 1000 and WTA 1000 events, after the Indian Wells Open and Miami Open earlier this year. While Carlos Alcaraz comes into this tournament off the back of successive French Open and Wimbledon wins, his only ATP Masters victory of the year came at Indian Wells.
