The Cincinnati Open is the oldest tennis tournament in the United States, with the event founded in 1899. It has been played at the Lindner Family Tennis Center since 1979. The defending men’s singles champion is Novak Djokovic and the defending women’s singles champion is Coco Gauff.
This event will feature a number of athletes who competed in tennis at the Paris Olympics, with 100 players from those games. One name that’s missing is Djokovic, the men’s gold medalist in Paris and defending champion of this event. He withdrew from the field, citing the quick turnaround after the Olympics. Other names that withdrew include Ons Jabeur, Emma Raducanu, Alex De Minaur and Maria Sakkari.
With doubles and singles finals just days away, the Cincinnati Open is in full swing.
The nine-day tournament has seen several standout moments thus far, including a visit from vice presidential nominee JD Vance and a mid-tournament withdrawal from two-time Cincinnati Open champion Victoria Azarenka.
The Mason tennis tournament, formerly called the Western & Southern Open, takes place Aug. 11-19 at the Lindner Family Tennis Center, where it has been held since 1979.
Full series and multiday packages to the tournament are sold out, but single session tickets are still available for purchase at cincinnatiopen.com/tickets.
The tournament concludes with the women's doubles final Sunday, Aug. 18 and the men's doubles final and all singles finals Monday, Aug. 19.
